How to fill Grand Stand for Carnival

THE EDITOR: Remember when the Grand Stand at the Queen’s Park Savannah used to be full on a Carnival Tuesday? For some years now it would seem that only the judges and media workers can be found at the QPS. Why? Because you would be out of your mind this guava season to be paying $350 to sit and look at mas.

I believe that if tickets were reasonably priced at, say, $100 for adults and $20 for children under 12 years the stand would be full. With the excellent toilet facilities and ease of buying food and drink, many families may be willing to spend the two Carnival days at the Grand Stand. The best seats would go to the earliest to arrive at the Savannah.

Tickets could be sold for $150 and $30 if people wish to attend both days. The pricing can be tweaked but not too much so.

I believe that NCC chairman Winston “Gypsy” Peters and acting CEO Colin Lucas can come up with an enticing offer to revive interest at the Savannah as a mas venue.
