Prison officer reports death threats

A prison officer assigned to the Maximum Security Prison, Arouca, reported receiving death threats on his phone to Barataria police on Tuesday.

Police believe a prisoner sent the messages and are expected to interview prisoners.

The Cyber Crime Unit is assisting with investgations.

One message sent to the officer stated he would not be alive by the end of the week.

He said he was afraid his life was at risk and asked the police to provide patrols around his home.
