Rape suspect still in custody

THE 45-year-old man who was arrested last week in connection with the sexual assault of another man, is still in police custody, while investigations continue. Newsday was told that investigations are expected to be completed sometime this week.

Last Tuesday, the Morvant man was arrested after he held a 23-year-old Arima man at knife point, took him to Sangre Grande and raped him.

The victim managed to escape his attacker and alerted an off-duty police officer. As both the officer and the victim walked back to the apartment where the assault took place, they saw the suspect walking towards them. The man was arrested and taken into custody.
