Prompt service at Legal Affairs

THE EDITOR: On Friday I went to the Ministry of Legal Affairs, now in its new location in the Government Plaza, to obtain two certificates. With the experience of having to conduct business in government offices, I allowed myself half day with the possibility of having to go back a few times, only to be pleasantly surprised to find courteous and efficient staff.

Upon entering the building, the information desk directed me to the counter, adorned with the relevant strip lighting, to find attendants only too willing to assist with my inquires. Once the information on my application form was correct, I was sent to the cashier where I paid and then directed to another, different colour strip-lit counter, where I presented the receipt and was handed the certificates.

It all took less that 15 minutes. In fact it took longer to walk up the flight of stairs in the Parkade car park opposite, as the elevator as usual was not working, to get my car and exit the car park. Hope something will be done about that elevator.

Congrats to the ministry for we criticise when service is poor, and we should also compliment when service is excellent. I keep my fingers crossed that it will continue.
