THE Canaan/Bon Accord Methodist Church hosted its annual Harvest/Thanksgiving Service and Cantata on May 6 at the church compound in Canaan with members and friends enjoying fellowship, sharing, singing and giving of thanks.

The event though has a larger goal - helping needy persons in the community.

Secretary of the Church’s events planning committee, Patricia Sharma said providing help for needy persons was made possible through the generous giving by church members who donated produce from their gardens as well as other home-made items for sale, the proceeds of which go towards providing hampers those in need.

Reverend Philbert Delaney told gathering that he would like them to demonstrate that same giving and caring they display in the church with persons outside of the church as well.

“Every year there is a great support from all our church members with respect to your giving of your harvest of crops as well as other valuables. This is good, and we really thank and appreciate all that you have done. But more importantly, God wants us to show that same enthusiasm as far as it relates to the harvesting of souls.

“There are people out there who need to be harvested from the world of sin and who desperately need our help in doing so. So, on this Harvest and Thanksgiving Day, let us make this our priority to go out there and harvest lost souls for the kingdom of God.”
