Strengthen family relationships for better TT

CAROL MATROO

THIS holy season of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ should help people to reflect on their beliefs and ideals that unify them, putting their differences aside as they progress as a nation.

This was Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley’s message to the nation for Easter.

“Easter is a celebration of the victory of life over death, of the fulfilment of a long-awaited promise to all of mankind. As Christians in our nation and around the world commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we continue to be encouraged by the lessons in selflessness and love demonstrated by Christ in his sacrifice on the cross,” Rowley said.

He said as the nation continued to go through turbulent times, we must continue to follow Jesus’ action of loving our neighbour as ourselves.

“As people around the country gather with their families and friends to celebrate this holy day, it is important to recognise that it is through the strengthening of family relationships and the purposeful building of community life that our nation will flourish,” he said.

He said Jesus’ death and resurrection signalled the end of an old order and the birth of a new era, however, we must be ready to adapt to its changed requirements. He said we must acknowledge the challenges that currently existed as well as those that would inevitably manifest on the road ahead.

“As we celebrate the potency of Christ’s message of love and sacrifice, let us pay special heed to the qualities and resolve that enabled him to lay aside his life for mankind. Let us move forward into a season of hope and renewal, fortified by the acknowledgement that we all desire a country that is safe, stable and resilient.”
