Vijanti Seudath, of Wellington Road, Debe, whose home was destroyed by a drunk driver on Saturday, is seeking help from the Ministry of Social Welfare and the Housing Ministry.

Seudath’s family has been split apart since Nigel Jacob, 42, crashed a car into the Seudaths’ house, tearing down the front concrete wall of the family’s dining room. Furniture and appliances were also destroyed.

Seudath is appealing to Minister of Housing, Randall Mitchell and the Minister of Social Welfare, Cherrie Ann Crichlow Cockburn, to attend urgently to the family’s need for temporary accommodation.

“Eight persons are out of a home for the Christmas season” Seudath told Newsday. Contacted for comment, Housing Minister Randall Mitchell told the Newsday, “There are no available housing at this moment, but there is a grant available from the Ministry of Social Development.”
