Garcia claims sewer sabotage at school

“Sabotage, plain and simple.”

These were the words coming from Education Minister Anthony Garcia after the St Joseph Girls’ RC School was closed after bits of clothing were found in the pipes leading to the sewer system.

This resulted in a back-up in the system which radiated a stench that left staff and students unable to operate in the building.

Garcia said a similar situation occurred at the Charlieville Primary School a couple of months ago, but that situation was rectified.

The minister said he had no clue why anyone would want to create such a situation which would result in children being kept away from school.

“Just wicked, past wickedness,“ Garcia said. ”The contractor is on site and classes should be resumed by Wednesday.”

The matter was raised by a concerned parent who said children were being sent home early because of the stench while nothing was being done.

The parent said the parish priest at the neighbouring church had offered to house the standard five students who would be writing the Secondary Entrance Assessment exams next year.
