Petrotrin gas line ruptured but repaired

An area in Hollywood, Point Fortin had to be cordoned off on Wednesday, after a contractor damaged a gas line. The contractor was clearing a landslip. Petrotrin, in a statement yesterday, said the line has been repaired.

Air quality tests were done and showed the area is safe, Petrotrin said.

“The company’s emergency response plan was activated and the relevant personnel were dispatched to the scene. The area was cordoned off and residents were advised of the incident.”

The line was isolated and there were no reported injuries nor did anyone require medical care.

The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries and the other regulatory authorities were notified of the incident, Petrotrin said.
