Santa Cruz, San Juan maxi and taxi fares increased

Commuters travelling to and from Santa Cruz and San Juan will now have to pay an extra $1 from October, 16.

In a telephone interview, president of the San Juan to Santa Cruz Taxi and Maxi Taxi Association, Junior Ghany said due to the recent fuel price increase, maintenance of maxi taxis and taxis and the cost of living, they were forced to increase their fares.

“It is with a heavy heart we have to adjust our fares upwards slightly by $1 bearing in mind that our last adjustment was in November 2013.”

He said the public will now have to pay $5 in a maxi taxi from San Juan to Santa Cruz , and $6 in a taxi from San Juan to Santa Cruz.
