Malabar man held for kidnapping, rape

A Malabar man is in custody after he was arrested in relation to the kidnapping and rape of a woman earlier this week.

Police said the Arima CID and other units organised a sting operation near KFC Windsor Hollis Avenue, Arima, at around 8 pm on Thursday and intercepted a silver Nissan B15.

Police said the driver, who is from Chadee Avenue, Malabar, was wanted in relation to the kidnapping, rape and grievous sexual assault of a woman on Monday.

He was taken to the Arima police station and is expected to be interviewed.

Earlier that day, at around 6.15 pm, police also arrested another man at Printeryville, O'Meara Road, Arima, for burglaries.

The exercise was co-ordinated by ACP Belfon, led by Snr Supt Ramkhelawan and Supt Edwards and supervised by Insps Ward, Black and Sgt Haynes.
