One covid19 death brings total to 130

An additional covid19 death has brought the number of deaths to 130. The Health Ministry said the patient was an elderly female with comorbidities.

Fifteen new cases of covid19 were detected in samples taken between January 11 and 13, two of which were from Tobago.

There are now 294 active cases.

The number of cases since March stands at 7,320, of which 6,896 have recovered.

There are five additional recovered community cases.

Thirty-two patients remain in hospital, with 19 people at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility, two of them in the intensive care unit. There are seven patients at the Caura Hospital, one at the St Ann’s Hospital and five at the Scarborough Regional Hospital at the Fort, with one en route.

There are 17 people in step-down facilities, three more than Wednesday. Of these, one is at the Claxton Bay Correctional Facility, 13 at UWI Debe and three in Tobago.

There are 225 people in state quarantine facilities and 230 people in home self-isolation. Wednesday’s figures were 267 and 220.

The update said a total of 76,834 people have been tested to date, 35,022 of them at private facilities.
