2 deaths and 20 more positive for covid19

The Ministry of Health reported the deaths of two covid19 patients on Wednesday. The deceased are an elderly male and female both with pre-existing medical conditions, bringing the total number of deaths to 67. Twenty more people have also tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of active cases to 2,019.

The ministry said the total number of positive cases is now 4,046 and the number of tests submitted to CARPHA for testing remains at 29,707. The number of unique patient tests is 26,644 with 3,063 repeated tests.

The total number of patients discharged from public health facilities is now 873 after 28 people have been discharged from hospital and step-down facilities. The ministry said 61 are recovered community cases, referring to patients who were in self-isolation and met the ministry’s discharge criteria and were allowed to leave.

There are currently 96 patients in hospital care. Couva hospital now houses 61 patients, four in intensive care and seven in the high dependency unit. Caura hospital has 24 patients and Arima has four patients. Augustus Long Hospital has one patient. There are 103 patients in step-down facilities. Six patients are at UWI Debe, 52 a UWI Canada Hall and 45 at UWI Freedom Hall.
