[UPDATED] Woman gunned down leaving graduation

Police are at the scene of a shooting in Santa Cruz where a woman was reportedly shot and killed as she left a graduation ceremony with her son.

A San Juan woman was gunned down while waiting for her husband near an events hall in Santa Cruz this afternoon.

Police said Candy McIntyre was waiting for her husband to pick her and their 12-year-old son after his graduation ceremony at Santa Barbara Boulevard, Santa Cruz, at around 1.45 pm when a white Nissan AD wagon approached them and men with rifles shot her several times.

The boy was unharmed, but McIntyre died at the scene.

Police are investigating.
