Valencia man wins Massy Stores ‘Giftmas’

Keron John Norville bypassed 149,000 entries in Massy Stores’ Giftmas promotion to win a brand-new Hyundai Ioniq car.

Norville submitted his one and only entry form at Massy Stores’ Trincity branch.

Roxanne Theobald and Kathy Ann Nicholson will each receive $36,000 worth of groceries for the year via the newly launched Massy Stores gift card.

Speaking with Newsday at the prizegiving ceremony at the company’s head office, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain, Norville said he received the news he had won the car on his birthday.

“It was the best gift, after life, I have ever received on my birthday. I could not believe it. I was not looking out for anything, so I did not expect this.

“I am a regular customer at Massy, especially around Christmas time, because I love to celebrate the season.

“Owning a car is not all that exciting, but to win a car on your birthday…I am elated. I remember telling my friend on that day and I just could not believe what had happened. I am thankful.”

Theobald said it was an unbelievable experience, as she had never won anything.

“I really did not believe it when they called. I had to ask several times if I was the right person they wanted to speak with. I am so happy. Do you know what it feels like not to worry about groceries for the rest of the year? I am still in shock.”

Nicholson said she felt extremely happy when a Massy Stores representative contacted her.

“I was not expecting this. But I really enjoy shopping at Massy. I want to thank them, because it is very much appreciated. I am so happy, so I can only imagine how the young man is feeling, as he won a car.”

Massy marketing manager Anthony Choo Quan said for the promotion Giftmas at Massy Stores, customers had to spend more than $300. Choo Quan said the promotion was a united effort between Massy Stores, Massy Distribution, and Massy Motors. Massy cardholders qualified by buying at least three items from the participating bands Fabuloso, Duracell, Betty Crocker, Cascine, Bounty, Swiss Miss, Planters, and Pringles.

He explained, “The gift card will expire in the next 15 months. Massy Stores would continue to engage customers with initiatives to add value to their shopping experience.

“We are pleased to reward our winners with these exciting prizes. We truly appreciate that our customers continue to choose Massy Stores.

“In addition to our commitment to quality and affordability, we will continue to provide a high level of service with specials that ensure our customers can get the best experience at Massy Stores.”

Choo Quan said the Giftmas promotion was launched on November 28, 2018, and more than 150,000 entries were received, from whom the winners randomly selected.
