EU the newbully in town

THE EDITOR: The European Union (EU) is well on the way to becoming the world’s biggest bully. Especially against small states.

All of these compliance deadlines are not coming out of the US. They are coming from Brussels, the EU headquarters.

Led by a bunch of unelected bureaucrats, the EU has been playing hardball with the UK over Brexit. It is presently trying to force Switzerland to make its laws subordinate to EU law. The Swiss are fighting back hard.

What’s left to do for Eastern European and African states and small-island nations here in the Caribbean? The EU will dictate its banking rules on us. Next will come same-sex marriage. Comply or else.

Better we stick with the devil we know (US) than the new devil in town (EU).
