Young: Not my relative

National Security Minister Stuart Young, in a statement to media today, denied that any relative of his was arrested during a major drug bust in Westmoorings this morning.

"It has come to my attention that it was being suggested and reported that a relative of mine has been arrested. No relative of mine has been arrested," Young said.

He confirmed that the suspect was a relative of his former partner.
"I have no connection or relation to the young woman in question. I will emphasize that no one is above the law and anyone who breaks the law will face the consequences."

The suspect's link to Young first surfaced in April after she was kidnapped. After the young woman was released, Young sent this response to the media:
“I would like to thank the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and all other members of law enforcement who worked around the clock on Thursday night to ensure the safe return of (suspect's name called), a 24-year-old adult and step-daughter, someone who I had a relationship with and who I was very concerned about... I was happy when she was returned safely home sometime early this morning,”
