El Socorro shooting leaves one dead

A shooting incident outside a suspected drug den left one man dead and another wounded in Persad Lane, El Socorro on Saturday night.

According to reports, at about 9.30 pm, the victims, Stephen Chan, 25, and Antonio De Roche, 25, were standing outside a house on Persad Lane in El Socorro when a man drew a gun and fired at the men.

Chan was shot in his right shoulder and leg, while De Roche was shot several times about the body.

Residents were alerted by the sounds of gunfire and upon investigating, discovered both men lying in a pool of blood.

Police were alerted and both men were rushed to the Mt Hope Hospital by Chan’s brother, where De Roche was pronounced dead on arrival.
