Man in CEPEP outfit robs Tobago tourist

Police in Tobago are searching for a man who donned a CEPEP uniform and robbed a pensioner and an American tourist in a daring daylight robbery.
The 65-year-old tourist from Atlanta is on holiday in Tobago and staying at the home of a 76-year-old retiree in Spring Garden Trace.
Around 9.30 am on January 15, the tourist was alone in the pensioner’s home and was locking the doors and windows when she heard a noise in the house.
She went to investigate and upon checking, saw a man dressed in a long grey CEPEP jacket and pants with fluorescent green stripes standing in the eastern room in the house.
The intruder, who had his head and face covered, approached her with her Apple iPhone in his hand and asked her to unlock it.
He handed it to her and while he was distracted, she grabbed a knife and raised an alarm.
The surprised bandit ran off, climbing through a bedroom window, and escaped.
The tourist checked the rest of the house and realised her Kindle Fire tablet valued US$95 and her Samsung A04 cellular phone worth US$120 were both missing.
She checked the room the man escaped from and saw a mosquito mesh attached to the window the man escaped from had been cut and found a knife on the floor below the window.
WPC Bispham has been assigned as the investigator in the matter.
Police in St Joseph are meanwhile looking for three men who robbed a market vendor in Curepe shortly after midnight on January 15.
The 42-year-old victim was walking south along the Southern Main Road, near Watts Street when he saw a blue car stop near him.
Two men, one armed with a gun, got out of the car and approached the vendor while the driver remained seated in the car.
They hit the vendor in his head with the gun and announced a robbery.
The bandits then stole his bag containing $12,000 worth of cell phone accessories and a Samsung S10 Cellular phone worth $3,000.
Both men then got back into the car and drove off towards the Churchill Roosevelt Highway to escape.
