3 cops charged with misbehaviour in public office

THREE police officers have been charged for misbehaviour in public office and granted $250,000 bail each.

WPC Patrice Rostant-Roberts, PC Jerome McIntosh and PC Karlon Murray were charged by Justice of the Peace Steven Young on December 5.

Appearing before Master Rehanna Hosein at the Tunapuna Criminal Court, bail was continued and they were instructed remain in TT continue living at their current addresses.

The matter was postponed to January 28, 2026.

Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard directed that the following charges be laid: assault occasioning actual bodily harm (McIntosh and Murray), larceny (Rostant-Roberts) and robbery with violence (Rostant-Roberts, McIntosh and Murray)

Reports of the crimes surfaced on November 1 when a victim said he was robbed and assaulted by two male and one female officers on October 31. He said the three entered his Valsayn home in masks and black clothes ordering him and his friends to lie on the floor.

His bedroom was then searched and robbed of $40,000 and the victims' phones, valued at around $14,000, were stolen. Another victim in the home was then taken to the bedroom and beaten.

On December 1, investigations led officers to the Belmont Police Station where one of the victims' phones was recovered.

The officers were then arrested.

The investigation was led by Deputy Police Commissioner Natasha George and supervised by ACP Richard Smith, Snr sup Kirk, Sup Jankee, WASP Bacchus, WInsp Guy, PC Horsford, PC Guerra and other members of the Professional Standards Bureau.
