DOZENS of the country’s top secondary school footballers will have a golden opportunity to be evaluated by United States collegiate scouts when the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL), in partnership with Next Level Performance TT (NLP), stages the 2025 Football Combine and Showcase from December 12–14, at the TTDF training ground in Macqueripe.

The event, which targets male and female standouts from schools across TT, is designed to create a direct pathway to athletic scholarships through the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and a visiting NCAA Division II programme.

Coaches and recruiters from two top-ranked NJCAA men’s and women’s football programmes, along with a ranked NCAA Division II institution, will attend to scout local talent with the potential to transition into the US collegiate system.

SSFL officials described the initiative as a major step forward for youth football development, noting that for many athletes, this may be the first and most impactful opportunity to be seen by international scouts.

Selected players will undergo performance testing, take part in high-level showcase matches, and receive direct exposure to programmes actively recruiting for their 2026 and 2027 rosters.

Each participating school was invited to nominate its top male and female players for the combine. The SSFL and NLP indicated that the preliminary girls’ and boys’ lists were supplied by NLP, with the possibility of a few additional names — particularly among the girls — being added in the coming days.

Priority remains on form five and sixth form students who are eligible for collegiate recruitment. Schools and players will be notified should there be any change to the planned venue.

The collaboration between SSFL and NLP reflects what organisers describe as a shared vision to “bridge the gap between local school football and international collegiate opportunities,” ensuring young talents are “seen, supported, and celebrated.” Further registration details and athlete requirements will be circulated soon through the SSFL secretariat.
