CHIEF PERSONNEL OFFICER (CPO) Dr Daryl Dindial met with the new president of the TT Police Service Social Welfare Association (TTPSSWA), Ishmael Pitt, and the executive at the Personnel Department on December 9.

A statement from the CPO’s office, on December 9, said the meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to engage in constructive dialogue and strengthen lines of communication.

It added that Dindial said that, although the discussions were not formal negotiations, the association raised several key issues, including the job evaluation exercise, pension reform, the group health plan and a possible timeline for resuming negotiations.

Dindial further said the meeting reflected the ongoing commitment to maintaining open, transparent, and productive engagement with the department’s stakeholders, ensuring that the needs and perspectives of the police service are heard and addressed.

The statement said the CPO also took the opportunity to express his appreciation to the outgoing president, Gideon Dickson, for his dedicated leadership, integrity and commitment to the association’s welfare over the years.

“The CPO commended Mr. Dickson for his honest and principled stewardship, which contributed significantly to the association’s achievements and strengthened the voice of its members," the statement said.

Dindial is quoted as saying the meeting was productive and it “laid the groundwork for continued dialogue scheduled for early January 2026.”

He also extended Christmas greetings to the police and their families.

In February 2023, the TTPSSWA accepted the CPO’s four per cent offer for the periods 2014-2016 and 2017-2019.
