OFFICERS of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the North Eastern Division arrested one man and seized a quantity of marijuana with a street value of over $4.4 million.

The exercise was carried out under the supervision of Snr Supt Edwards, Supt Etienne and ASP Lynch, with support from the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) between 6 am and 11 am on November 26.

During the course of the operation, officers intercepted a vehicle travelling west along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, in the vicinity of the Ibis Building, opposite Courts.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 40 packages of compressed Colombian “creepy” marijuana, weighing 20.74 kilos.

The seizure was co-ordinated on the ground by Insp Ammon. A male suspect was arrested for the find. Investigations are continuing.
