Heavy afternoon rains on October 13 triggered flash flooding in several parts of central and south Trinidad, prompting warnings from disaster officials, particularly for people in flood-prone areas to take precautions.

According to the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) 4 pm summary update, there were reports of street and residential flooding in at least two municipalities, the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo and Princes Town.

In the central municipality, residential flooding was reported along Hermitage Road, Claxton Bay, while Pine Avenue in Fairview Park, Freeport, and Macaulay Trace Junction also experienced street flooding.

In the Princes Town municipality, street flooding was confirmed along Guaracara Tabaquite Road, near the Williamsville Community Centre, as well as at Piparo Junction.

There were no reports of damage to properties.

The ODPM reminded people in flood-prone areas to secure household items, move vehicles to higher ground, and avoid walking or driving through floodwaters.
