Police: No update on fetus found in landfill

Police said there have been no updates in the investigation of the decomposing female fetus found at the Beetham Landfill on June 9.
A senior police officer said, owing to the difficulty of investigating these matters, police are no closer to identifying who discarded the fetus.
In an interview with Newsday on the day of the discovery, then Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin urged the public to respect human life and contact the police, visit the hospital or use available counselling services instead of resorting to these actions.
“These situations speak to the fact that we have people, for one reason or the next, who instead of going to the hospital, decide to do these things.”
He said sometimes under-aged people are involved.
“The TT Police Service would encourage people, no matter the situation, they need to go to the hospitals and get medical attention. This is certainly not the way we would like to see things happen in TT and we should understand the dignity and importance of life."
