TRANSPORT and Civil Aviation Minister Eli Zakour wants to improve co-ordination with Customs and Excise Division, integrate modern technology and improve parking at the airports.

On May 12, Zakour met with the Airport Authority to discuss these ideas.

A statement from the ministry said the meeting provided Zakour with a detailed overview of the Authority's strategic operations aimed at driving transformation and growth.

Zakour identified some areas which required enhancement, including Immigration, Customs and Excise and the use of more modern technology.

He said these would significantly increase operational efficiency, enhance the overall customer experience, and position Trinidad and Tobago as a viable destination for air carriers.

Zakour said government intends to boost air cargo traffic into TT by attracting international cargo carriers to diversify revenue.

He was optimistic TT could become a regional logistics hub.
