Young: Help me save Trinidad and Tobago

PRIME Minister Stuart Young urged voters to help him save Trinidad and Tobago by voting for the PNM on election day.
He was speaking at the party's closing rally at Eddie Hart Savannah, Tacarigua, on April 26.
Former Chaguanas West MP Dinesh Rambally and former Tabaquite MP Anita Haynes-Alleyne both publicly endorsed the PNM, the former on-stage and the latter via broadcast.
Young said, "Do you feel the energy? Do you feel the spirit of TT?
"It is your duty on Monday to go out and vote and save your country."
He said prosperity was not economic but was for the single parent, graduate, small-business person and homemaker.
"No one must be left behind."
Young hit the former UNC-led government saying, "Billions of dollars gone. It was a betrayal of our hopes and dreams."
"Who was responsible? The UNC led by Kamla Persad-Bissessar."
He recounted the section 34 affair, the Lifesport programme fuelling criminality and Estate Management Development Company corruption.
"We remember the shame they brought to this country and we say in one loud voice, 'Never again!'
"Citizens, it depends on you."
Recalling the PNM saving the economy, education and energy sector, he said, "Vote the PNM back in it. Vote me as your prime minister, and I will fight for TT as I have never fought before!"
He declared, "Your pension is safe with the PNM. It is them (UNC) who will collapse the country."
"I want you to imagine a TT not just surviving but a TT that is thriving for you.
"Imagine an economy no longer at the mercy of oil and gas prices.
"We cannot do it alone. Get off the fence. Join us to write a brighter and bolder future for TT."
He said, "This election is not about politics. It is about our future.
"It is not just another election, It is a defining moment in TT. We have to fight for TT.
"Stand with us as we write a new chapter."
"We will cast our vote not just for the PNM but for our children grandchildren and our future."
Young warned against false opinion polls and urged people to vote for PNM.
He said public servants now have a decent back pay awaiting them now.
"WASA workers, T&TEC workers, your jobs are safe. Do not listen to the lying UNC. They will collapse our country."
He said under the UNC, healthcare, pensions and funds in the Heritage and Stabilisation Fund will all be lost.
He vowed to fight devaluation and recalled putting $16 billion into the NGC.
Young congratulated the trade unions that accepted four and five per cent.
"Tonight I tell the Estate Police Association (EPA), we have heard you and come April 29 we will go back to the table with you."
"Tonight I ask you to give us the mandate to fight for TT."
Earlier PNM leader Dr Keith Rowley warned, "The campaign is over. The fun and games they (UNC) were having is over.
"If you think you were in the frying pan, you will be in the blazing fire if you make a mistake."
