“Unforeseen and certainly unintended.”

This is how the Tobago Festivals Commission Limited (TFCL) described the forced postponement of the performance of renowned Jamaican reggae artiste Buju Banton.

In December 2024, the TFCL announced that Buju Banton would headline the inaugural Tobago Rhythm and Soul Festival set for April 20, 2025. However, on April 2, it reported he would no longer perform at the festival.

The artiste, in dialogue with organisers of the event humbly requested compassion and understanding as a close member of the team confronts a very dire health matter – someone he acknowledges as "family."

In a video, the artiste said: “Trust and believe that your love and support, your admiration has been overwhelming over the years and we plan to make it up to you. Nothing is more important, and nothing is more vital than health – so right now iam in the throws fighting for a good friend’s life.”

The commission said arrangement for a rescheduled concert featuring the artiste is forthcoming.
