International School, St Joseph's Convent into U-17 volleyball final

International School of PoS (ISPS) and St Joseph's Convent PoS (SJCPoS) advanced to the final of the girls' under-17 division of the Secondary Schools Volleyball League after emerging from the Big 4 playoff round at the Eastern Regional Sporting Arena, Tacarigua on February 20.

In the quarterfinal round, ISPS defeated St Joseph's Convent San Fernando 25-16, 26-12, with SJCPoS defeating Tunapuna Secondary 25-5, 25-12.

South East PoS Secondary School (SEPOS) and Arima North Secondary booked their spots in the Big 4 round-robin playoffs with wins over ASJA Girls' College San Fernando and Pleasantville Secondary respectively. SEPOS beat ASJA 25-14, 25-22, with Arima getting a tight three-set comeback win against Pleasantville (16-25, 27-25, 16-14).

In Big 4 action, ISPS, winners of the under-14 and under-16 categories in the previous SSVL season, beat SEPOS 25-6, 25-19, before getting by Arima 25-6, 25-15. However, ISPS dropped their last Big 4 game against SJCPoS in a tense three-set matchup (21-25, 25-14, 13-15).

SJCPoS also passed SEPOS when they got a 25-15, 25-14 result.

SEPOS beat Arima 25-13, 25-19 in their Big 4 clash, and they repeated the trick in the bronze medal match with a 25-13, 26-14 triumph.

Having lost to SJCPoS in the Big 4 playoffs, ISPS will hope to add to their silverware from the previous SSVL campaign when they take on their Pembroke Street counterparts in the grand final after the league's Carnival break.
