Digicel’s "Red Army" of staff volunteers and their families participated in the International Coastal Cleanup of the Mucurapo Foreshore for the second year of a partnership between the Digicel Foundation and the Rotary Club of Port of Spain West.

Other organisations which supported the foreshore clean-up included the Rotaract Club of Port of Spain West, Rotary and Rotaract Maraval, Magic Mist Services, Coastal Dynamics, Port Authority and Fatima College, a media release said.

Desha Clifford, chair of the Digicel Foundation, underscored the significance of community partnerships in driving environmental stewardship.

"We are not just cleaning our coastlines; we are fostering a culture of stewardship and responsibility towards our planet. This initiative reflects Digicel Foundation’s commitment to sustainability, staff engagement, and we are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Rotary Club in making a tangible difference for generations to come," Clifford said in the release.

Over 25 of Digicel’s staff participated on September 21. Volunteer Curshena Spencer said in the release: "I am truly honoured to be part of the International Coastal Cleanup. This opportunity not only allows us to give back but also strengthens team morale. Volunteering today reminds me that even small actions can lead to significant change, and I’m proud to contribute to a cleaner, healthier nation."

The release said Digicel’s "Red Army" is a staff campaign designed to encourage and enhance the spirit of volunteerism, build team morale, uncover hidden talents and develop team leaders.
