The PNM's Women's League elected officers during a conference at the Arima Central Secondary School on September 8.

Attending the conference, acting Prime Minister Stuart Young also put the league on a general election footing with the country being one year away from the elections.

First vice chair Lisa Morris-Julian, who retained her position on the women's league executive, said the league is ready to do its part to bring home a victory for the party at next year's general election.

Chairperson Camille Robinson-Regis said the league had appointed zone co-ordinators to help ensure the party's victory.

Young was a guest speaker at the conference and despite his late arrival, sent the crowd into a frenzy as he asked, "Are you women of the PNM ready to return to the battlefield?"

He reminded the league of its importance to the PNM's election machinery, saying, "Every time PNM women mobilise, we bring home the election!"
