Harris’ running mate, strategic choice

THE EDITOR: I witnessed the introduction of Governor Tim Walz, of Minnesota, by US Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee, Kamala Harris as her running mate at their first joint Democratic campaign rally held in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening.
He received a tumultuous, resounding and sustained applause of unanimous approval from the Democratic faithful.
I am convinced that in Walz, Harris made a most suitable, strategic, game-changing and judicious choice because by his body language, stage craft, relaxed elocution, impressive credentials, his mannerisms and his achievement-oriented tenure as governor makes him an excellent and most effective, complementing force that will enhance the presidential candidacy of Harris, while retarding and derailing that of former President Trump.
His nomination and endorsement speech were successfully delivered, well- received and had the rally eating out of the palm of his hands.
He touched all the salient bases that will constitute the raft that will transport them both to waltz into the White House in January 2025.
The theme of the rally was – We win – and “we are not going back” that was used to galvanise crowd jubilation and responsiveness with a focus on building the future of the US. The centrepiece and chief corner stone of the Democratic campaign will be the empowerment of the American middle class as the campaign policy vehicle to achieve growth and a secure development thrust within the US.
Running mate Walz has demonstrated all the attributes of a budding future vice president. Both candidates mutually reinforce and complement each other’s candidacy.
I am amazed at the political chemistry that link each other from day one. It seems hard to separate them as candidates.
That rally was a superb success that augurs well for generating a new increasing momentum in Harris’ candidacy for the first woman president of the US.
