RELATIVES of Suresh Baboolal are baffled by his shooting death, considering he was a quiet person who spent most of his time at work and with his family.

The self-employed businessman, 37, also known as Jimmy, of Fifth Street Extension, Pranz Gardens, in Claxton Bay, was ambushed and shot around 8.30 pm on July 3. He was in his white Kia K2700 van near the family's home.

The police said Baboolal was declared dead at 11.33 pm by Dr Adolphe at the San Fernando General Hospital.He owned a tent manufacturing business in Claxton Bay and was the father of two.

His mother, Parbatee Baboolal, told Newsday on July 4, "My son was a quiet and simple person. He spent most of his time at work or home. He would be home with his family or cleaning the land. My son worked very hard. "My son was a good person. He did not do anyone anything. They had no right to do him that."As far as the family was aware, no threats had been made to Baboolal's life.

He had just returned from work, opened the garage gates and drove in. Before he had a chance to get out of the van, two gunmen ambushed and shot him.

Relatives heard the gunshots and the sound of the van revving. They ran out and found Baboolal with gunshot wounds in the driver's seat.

Nothing had been stolen from the garage or the van.Central Division and Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region III police responded and gathered evidence.The police do not have a motive.

An autopsy is expected to be done at the Forensic Science Centre in St James.

Investigations are ongoing.

THE man who was shot and wounded in his van on July 3 near his home in Claxton Bay has died.

The police confirmed that Suresh Baboolal died around 11. 45 pm during emergency treatment at the San Fernando General Hospital.

The shooting happened around 8.30 pm at Fifth Street in Pranz Gardens, where he was in his white Kia K2700 van. Gunmen approached and shot him.

Central Division and Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region III police responded and gathered evidence.

The police do not have a motive.

An autopsy is expected to be done at the Forensic Science Centre in St James.

Investigations are ongoing.
