Murder in Tobago amid hurricane watch

Tobago has recorded its 11th murder, even as the island braced itself for Hurricane Beryl.

The victim has been identified as Nathan Roach, 30.

Police said around 11.50 pm gunshots were heard at Roach Trace, Mt Pleasant.

Relatives saw the victim lying on the floor of his bedroom with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital, where he died while being treated.

Officers of the Homicide Bureau, Tobago, are investigating.

At that time, Tobago remained under a hurricane watch as Beryl approached as a category 4 storm.

As of 2 am, Beryl was northeast of the island.
