Hurricane warning in effect for Tobago

The Meteorological Office, in its 5 am update, said Hurricane Beryl was approximately 93km northeast of Tobago, moving west at nearly 31 km/h. Periods of showers and gusty winds have been observed and further deterioration is expected with gusts in excess of 70 km/h.

The Met Service said there is a 90 per cent chance of hazardous seas with large, battering waves. Mariners should expect wave heights to increase significantly, posing a danger to small craft, coastal and offshore activities. Strong currents and choppy seas will make navigation hazardous.
