THE day after a man was fatally stabbed at a bar in San Fernando, another man suffered a similar fate at a nearby bar on the evening of June 27.

The latest victim is construction worker Jason “Hakka” Stoute, from Duncan Street in La Romaine.

In April, he survived a shooting that took place at the South Trunk Road in La Romaine.

Stoute, 32, was liming with a friend, 58, from Penal, at Edge Bar at the corner of Keith and Mucurapo Streets, when he had a heated argument with another man around 6.10 pm on June 27.

Stoute and the other man, who was wearing a blue coverall, left and began walking along Mucurapo Street, during which Stoute was stabbed.

He fell to the ground, and passersby saw him with bloodstains on his hands and jersey, touching the left side of his chest.

He died shortly after, and the police were alerted.

The suspect is of African descent and has a rasta hairstyle.

PCs Ramoutar, Phagoo and Ramroop of the San Fernando CID responded. DMO Dr Dhansingh viewed the body and ordered it removed to the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH) mortuary, pending an autopsy at the Forensic Science Centre in St James.

Insp Maharaj, Sgts Alexander and Harripersad, PCs Mohammed, Ramoutar, WPC Simon, and other police from the Southern Division visited and gathered evidence. Acting ASP Maharaj, Sgt Forbes and WPC Mohammed of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three, also visited.

The suspect remained at large up to June 28.

PC Lall is investigating.

Less than 24 hours earlier, around 8 pm on June 26, Denzil David Brewster, 33, was stabbed in a brawl while liming at Little Las Vegas Bar at the corner of Dr Leroy Calliste Street (formerly Lord Street) and Coffee Street. Brewster, of Cedar Hill in Princes Town, died shortly afterwards at the SFGH.

An off-duty policeman, PC Kyle Assivero, 24, was also stabbed but survived.

Investigations are ongoing.
