Aggressive cow shot dead in Penal

A 76-year-old pensioner from Penal has shot and killed a cow he believed was about to attack him in his yard on the night of June 24.

The man, from Suchit Trace, reported that around 11. 20 pm, he was in his house when he heard footsteps outside his home.

He picked up his licensed gun and went into the yard to check. He saw eight cattle, two of which began walking toward him reportedly aggressively.

The man got frightened and fired a round, and the animals ran away. He saw one lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the right front shoulder.

He alerted Penal police and W/Sgt Monsegue and PCs Ramsingh, Pascall and George responded.

W/Sgt Monsegue is investigating.
