Let's appreciate being Trinidad and Tobago citizens

THE EDITOR: The Patriotic Organisation of Trinbago extends greetings to the Hindu community and the nation at large on the occasion of Divali, the Festival of Lights and symbol of good over evil and triumph of light over darkness.

This is easily summed up as significantly the aim of civilisation.

The good of honesty, integrity, justice, equality, fairness, meritocracy, due respect, tolerance all form the aims of a civilised world. To replace the evils of corruption, nepotism, prejudice, racism, dishonesty, gender and class inequality, which are so destructive to our world, is to promote what we see as tenets of civilisation.

As we once more show our integrated society and seek to appreciate our unity in diversity and peaceful co-existence, may the blessings of Mother Lakshmi fall on us all and may we likewise see the need to serve Mother TT by our individual activities.

We need everyone to play their part as we forge ahead and continue to dwell together in unity, peace and progress, and uplift and appreciate the blessings of being citizens of our country.
