THE MV Cabo Star will be back in service on Tuesday, said the Trinidad and Tobago Inter-island Transportation Company (TTIT) on Monday evening.

It has been inspected and certified as safe to operate. It will sail at 2 pm from Port of Spain and its return sailing will depart Scarborough at 11 pm on Tuesday.

Earlier on Monday, a Port Authority (PATT) statement said repairs to the seabridge cargo vessel have been completed.

PATT had said the owners were awaiting the outcome of an inspection due on Monday by the Classification Society, RINA, (Registro Italiano Navale), before certifying the vessel for safe operations.

On August 23, a fire broke out onboard after the boat left Scarborough at 11.23 pm. The PATT said the fire originated in the engine room but the crew isolated and extinguished it. No injuries were reported.
