THE EDITOR: I highly commend T&TEC for the repair works it did on August 21 on our Prince Street block at Woodford Square, Port of Spain.

Around 7.30 am electricity supply was cut due to equipment failures at the buildings involved. The T&TEC phone receptionist was courteous and quick. T&TEC responded to the call within the hour.

The initial assessment was done and a transformer crew was called in without delay. Not only had fuses blown out but an ageing transformer had died. It was clear from that that the repair would not be effected only in a couple of hours.

Later as T&TEC tried to power up new installations, yet another transformer in the same kiosk collapsed – a newer one. It was determined that it was likely impacted when the first one went out; and now both had to be replaced.

There was during a long period at least four crews plus supervisors on the job; all these people were in attendance from the word go. They were seen plying non-stop through lunch aiming for the successful results. As it turned out this was achieved at 11 pm with parts of the teams staying on through what was their dinner time.

T&TEC crews showed mastery of safety, skills and knowledge. They co-ordinated their actions at each step. They separated equipment for testing. They shut off location mains for the final test. They ensured the power-up didn't give in the end. They followed through the next day.

People wish to publicly acknowledge them and their know-how, efficiency and dedication. So many of those affected convey many thanks.
