THE EDITOR: Football is a ruthless game. Any other manager would’ve gotten the sack for that CONCACAF Gold Cup exit but looking at the bigger picture and the progress we’ve made since the defeat to Bahamas, Angus Eve deserves another term as the head coach, at least in my opinion. What Angus Eve needs is support from all stakeholders, that is the Government, the Normalisation Committee and the TT Premier League. We fans have always got the Soca Warriors’ back, and by extension whomever is the manager.

I firmly believe that squad selection led to our poor showing at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, and that local based players who were apart of Eve’s training camps, the Jamaica, Guatemala friendlies should’ve been rewarded with selection ahead of majority of the team that did, it’s in the past, we move on. I urge players such as Justin Sadoo, John Paul Rochford, Ross Russel Jr, Justin Garcia, Nathaniel James, Duane Muckette, Che Benny, and Reon Moore to name a couple, to keep their heads up and continue to play their best football, opportunities will come, there’s a lot of football to be played.

I urge the Government to give a Hasely Crawford Stadium treatment to all sporting facilities, and recreational grounds so that the ball could do the running and so that players won’t be blinded by kicking up dust. Also, just following up with (Sport) Minister (Shamfa) Cudjoe and AG (Reginald) Armour to do some legal work to ensure players whose grandparents are Trinbagonian are granted a passport to play for the Soca Warriors.

I urge the Normalisation Committee to encourage Jadon Sancho of Manchester United to consider switching allegiance from England to TT. He would lift the confidence and morale of the team, if Demarai Gray and Leon Bailey could play for Jamaica, then we should be moving heaven and earth to get his signature.

Angus Eve, make use of this second opportunity. I really don’t care about tactics and style of play, once we are winning football games.
