Young meets with Woodside Energy on deepwater project

Energy and Energy Industries Minister Stuart Young met with Woodside Energy executives on Tuesday for an update and discussion on the Calypso Deepwater project.

A release from the ministry said during the meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister, Young reiterated the significance of the project and its importance to deepwater resource development, the future beneficial growth of TT's energy sector and overall energy security of the region.

Woodside executives provided updates on the project.

Also discussed was an "aggressive" timeline aimed at bringing first gas to the market as soon as possible.

Acting country manager Kellyanne Lochan expressed her gratitude for Young's contribution and the ministry's willingness to engage with Woodside to further the project.

Young also met with acting permanent secretary Sandra Fraser; Woodside Energy TT's project director of Calypso Stacy Patrick; vice president of Atlantic Sales Onne Peters; vice president of commercial exploration and development Ross Wildly; and senior adviser on corporate affairs Sheldon Narine.

The Calypso Deepwater project is 250 kilometres off the east coast of Trinidad, in 2,200 metres of water.
