Southern Division police are searching for four men who broke into a house in San Fernando on Tuesday night and robbed the Venezuelan occupants of cash.

Despite a prompt response by the police, the men escaped.

A report said the police were alerted to a group of men banging and breaking into a house at Ryan Street in Diamond Village at around 11.30 pm.

When they arrived, they saw three men on the roof, and a nearby window open. When the police called out, the men jumped to the ground and ran to the back of the house and into nearby bushes.

Officers chased the men but an Aqua car parked in the driveway at the front of the house suddenly sped out of the street.

It was then the officers learned the driver had been hiding in the getaway car.

The police issued an all-points bulletin and later found the car abandoned near C3 Mall in Corinth.

San Fernando CID police are investigating.
