Teniel Campbell 50th in World Champs road race

TT CYCLIST Teniel Campbell placed a creditable 50th in the women's elite road race at the 2023 International Cycling Union World Championships in Scotland on Sunday.

A total of 210 cyclists started the 154.1K trek, but only 86 of them completed the race.

Campbell, 25, finished the course in four hours, 17 minutes and one second (4:17:01). Copping gold was Lotte Kepecky of Belgium who ended in 4:02:12, Demi Vollering of The Netherlands was second in 4:02:19 and Cecilie Ludwig of Denmark also finished in 4:02:19 to grab third spot.

On Thursday, Campbell also had a solid showing in the time trial event finishing 21st as she covered the 36K distance in 50 minutes, 12.45 seconds among the field of 86 riders.
