Bain, Walker hunt Summer Bowl Tennis semifinal spots

QUARTER-FINAL singles matches in the Summer Bowl Under-14 Tennis tournament will continue at the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua, on Monday.

The top players advanced past the round robin phase of the tournament which ended on Sunday.

Makeda Bain, ranked first in the girls singles category, will play Lilly Mohammed at 9 am. Bain won her round robin matches comfortably defeating Anya Romany 4-0, 4-0 and getting past Taegan Yates 4-1, 4-0.

Second-seeded Shiloh Walker will aim for a spot in the semi-finals against Naomi Mohammed. Walker won all her matches in the preliminary phase recording straight set wins over Elyse Ferguson, Cyra Ramcharan and St Lucian Jaelyn Henry.

In other quarter-final matches, Campbell-Smith sisters Em-Miryam and Abba will be aiming for places in the semi-finals. Em-Miryam will face Yates and Abba will play Henry.

Matches will also be contested in the boys round of 16 category. The top players in the boys round robin got a round of 16 bye including TT players Darius Rahaman and Nirav Dougdeen, along with Barbadian Dimitri Kirton who is ranked first in the draw.

Doubles matches will also be played including in the boys and girls categories.
