Two dead, two wounded in Diego Martin, Arima

Two men were shot dead and two others wounded in separate incidents on Saturday in Diego Martin and La Horquetta

The dead man in the first incident was identified as Jerimiah Alexander of 2nd Caledonia, Morvant.

Police said at about 4.20 pm on Saturday, police were alerted to a wounded man running along Wendy Fitzwilliam Boulevard, Diego Martin.

When they arrived they were directed to a Mazda 323 car which had crashed into an abandoned house opposite Hosein Drive, St Lucien Road.

They found a man, later identified as Alexander, dead in the driver’s seat. Officers then checked at the St James Medical Complex, where they were directed to a man who had been shot in the right forearm.

He told police he was in the back seat of the car when he heard gunshots, felta burning sensation in his arm and realised he had been shot.

Fearing for his life, he got out of the car and ran to safety. He was later taken to the medical complex by a passer-by.

A 28-year-old man was shot dead and a 33-year-old man was wounded when they were ambushed by gunmen while driving in La Horquetta.

Police said at about 9.45 pm Northern Division police were on mobile patrol in Arima when they got a report of rapid gunfire being heard at Jacaranda Boulevard, La Horquetta.

There they found a Toyota Corolla NZE on the side of the road. In the car they found a man later identified as 28-year-old Kevin Denzil Salazar of San Pedro Lluengo Village, Maracas St Joseph, dead in the front passenger seat.

Police said he had several gunshot wounds to his head.

Police also saw a pool of blood on the driver’s side of the car. They were later told the driver of the car had also been shot and was taken to the Arima Health facility.

When investigators processed the scene, they found an empty black magazine believed to be from a high-powered rifle.
