Cops probe 9-year-old San Fernando boy's sudden death

Southern Division police are investigating the sudden death of a nine-year-old boy who was found unresponsive hours after being discharged from the San Fernando General Hospital on Wednesday.

Jace Paul was pronounced dead at his at Olera Heights Housing Complex home by DMO Dr Chamiah who ordered the body removed to the mortuary of the SFGH.

Police received a report of the sudden death at around 3.20 pm on Wednesday.

Cpl Soanes along with WPC Fraser responded and spoke to Shanel Paul, the mother of the deceased child.

Paul told the police her son suffered from Type I diabetes.

She said he was admitted to the SFGH on June 22 suffering with bronchitis. He was discharged on August 2 around 1 pm.

Around 2.15 pm, after being brought back to his home, he began vomiting blood. He remained alive for approximately one more hour.

Officers who visited the scene observed the body which was clad in a black T-Shirt and black long joggers. There was blood around his nose and mouth. There were no visible marks of violence.

The family declined an interview with the media. Investigations are continuing.
