Excellent article on Venezuelans

THE EDITOR: Congratulations to Chandradath Madho on an excellent article in Monday's Newsday on the Plight of Venezuelan migrants. Most of these unfortunate souls are willing to work hard and honestly and just want to be treated fairly. Several are quite interested in being allowed to drive legally on the roads, as their jobs require.

The rest of us would be well advised to remember that most of our ancestors were also voluntary or involuntary migrants to these shores. The original indigenous peoples of our islands were the Tainos and Kalinagos. Consider how different our lifestyle would be today if our forefathers were deported to India, Africa, China or Syria.
