A Central mechanic has been charged with five counts of sexual penetration of a child and four counts of sexual touching of a child.

The 45-year-old man was arrested on July 14 and appeared in court later the same day. He was granted $250,000 bail by Magistrate Alexander Prince in the Couva Magistrates Court and ordered to stay 100 feet away from the 14-year-old victim. The man, who lives in California, has also been ordered to report to the St Margaret's Police Station once a week.

He is due to reappear in court on August 11.

The investigation was supervised by Superintendent Claire Guy- Alleyne, acting ASP Christopher Aroon, acting Woman Inspector Jacob and Sgt Cedeno-Figaro.
