THE EDITOR: Monkeypox, now in TT, is transmitted by direct contact with the rash, scabs, crusts, fluids, respiratory secretions of an infected person. Lower your risk of contracting monkeypox by avoiding close physical contact with an infected person; do not share razors, toothbrushes, sex toys; wash your hands; wear a medical mask properly.

The rash appears on the face and mouth; arms and legs; hands and feet; anus, rectum, genitals.

It is accompanied by fever, chills, muscle pain, headache.

If you have the symptoms isolate at home, away from others; seek professional medical attention pronto.
